Cookie Policy
Effective date: 1 June 2026 · Last updated: 1 June 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Solonym (“we”, “us”, or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit solonym.com.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work correctly, to remember your preferences, and — on many sites — to track your behavior for advertising or analytics purposes. Solonym does not use cookies for advertising, behavioral profiling, cross-site tracking, or analytics purposes.
2. The Cookies We Use
Solonym currently uses at most two cookies, both strictly necessary for authentication, account security, abuse prevention, and operation of the platform:
| Category | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Authentication session | Keeps you logged in to your Solonym account and helps maintain secure authenticated sessions between requests. Without this cookie, the platform cannot identify authenticated users between page loads, apply account-level security protections, or provide authenticated platform functionality. | Strictly necessary | Up to 30 days from last activity if you selected “Remember me” at login (refreshed on each active use). Expires when you close the browser otherwise. |
| Remember Me preference | Records that you did not select “Remember me” at login, so the session remains browser-session-only. Set only when “Remember me” is not selected. Automatically removed on sign-out. | Strictly necessary | Current browser session only. |
3. What We Do Not Currently Use
Solonym does not currently use:
- Advertising or targeting cookies
- Third-party analytics cookies (e.g. Google Analytics, Hotjar, Mixpanel)
- Social media tracking pixels (e.g. Facebook Pixel)
- Any cookie that tracks your behavior across other websites
- Cookies or tracking technologies used for advertising profiling, cross-site behavioral monitoring, or personalized advertising
- Fingerprinting or supercookie technology for advertising, tracking, or cross-site identification purposes
No data collected by our cookies is shared with advertisers or analytics companies.
4. Why No Cookie Consent Banner Is Currently Required
Under EU ePrivacy rules (the “Cookie Law”) and GDPR, prior consent is required before placing non-essential cookies on a visitor’s device. Strictly necessary cookies — those without which the service the user has explicitly requested cannot function — are exempt from the consent requirement. Both cookies Solonym sets are strictly necessary for the secure operation of user accounts and authenticated platform services requested by the user. The session token identifies the authenticated account between requests, and the Remember Me preference cookie ensures the session behaves as specified at login. As Solonym currently sets only strictly necessary cookies, no prior consent is required under the applicable ePrivacy exemption.
Unauthenticated visitors browsing public pages of Solonym do not have any cookie placed on their device.
Solonym may also use strictly necessary session-management, authentication, rate-limiting, and abuse-prevention mechanisms that are technically required to protect user accounts, maintain platform integrity, enforce platform security measures, and prevent unauthorized or automated misuse of the service.
5. Managing Cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Cookie management instructions for the most common browsers:
- Google Chrome — Settings › Privacy and security › Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox — Settings › Privacy & Security › Cookies and Site Data
- Apple Safari — Preferences › Privacy › Manage Website Data
- Microsoft Edge — Settings › Cookies and site permissions › Manage and delete cookies
If you delete or block Solonym’s cookies, you will be logged out and will need to log in again on your next visit. This is the only consequence — no other functionality is affected for unauthenticated users.
6. Changes to This Policy
If we ever introduce additional cookies or similar technologies — for example, for analytics, enhanced security, fraud prevention, abuse detection, or related operational purposes — we will update this Cookie Policy, add any new cookies to the table in Section 2, and obtain any required consent before setting them. Where practicable, we will endeavor to notify existing users by email of material changes. We will always update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
7. Personal Data and Privacy Policy
Our session cookies are linked to your Solonym account and therefore involve the processing of personal data. For full details of how we collect, use, and protect your personal data — including your rights under GDPR and CCPA — please refer to our Privacy Policy.
Certain strictly necessary authentication or security-related technologies may also be used in connection with platform integrity, abuse prevention, fraud detection, moderation enforcement, or protection of user accounts and services.
8. Contact
